This eight week, flexible on-line course shows you how yoga can keep you fit to ride, improve your flexibility, balance and stamina in the saddle. Each class covers a different element exploring hips and seat, lower back and core, upper back and shoulders, arms and neck. We’ll also put it all together and look at how your nervous system and breath also affect your riding ability and what you can do to manage those.

Keep Riding
An eight week course helping you to improve your strength, stamina and flexibility in the saddle and out of it. Do you experience any of the following symptoms?
- Finding it difficult to get on (or off) your horse, especially without a mounting block.
- Your horse feels unbalanced or as if they don’t move freely when you are riding.
- You’d love to keep your ‘back straight and your heels down’ but you get tired and fall quickly back into old postures and habits.
- You’d like to do more with your horse but don’t feel very confidant.
- You have sore hips back or shoulders after riding or tired and achy muscles.

You can expect ….
If you joined me to be Ready to Ride, you know already that yoga can make a big difference to your mind and body. In Keep Riding, we will deepen our practice and awareness of how our riding body affects our horse. We will explore how we can regulate our nervous system and breath to communicate and ride more freely too.
Improve your balance: When you are balanced in the saddle your horse can carry themselves well and move more freely. Good for them, and for you!
Increase flexibility: We’ll work through all the core muscles you use to ride your horse, stretching and toning. You’ll be more flexible and stronger, able to adapt to your horse’s changing movements.
Stamina and strength: We’ll work on your strength and stamina too, meaning that you can spend longer in the saddle, and try new activities together.
Focus: Where attention goes, energy flows. As you become more balanced and flexible, your attention can move easily between you and your horse. Horses are highly tuned to our emotions and energy, so as you become more confidant so will they.
Connection: Your horse will appreciate the changes that you are making. Riding together will become more comfortable for you both and you’ll be able to focus on your relationship together, your connection, rather than the mechanics of your body.

Meet Clare, Gemma and Ernie
I’m Clare Hodgson and I’m a registered yoga teacher, and long time horse rider. I’m a qualified coach, mentor and NLP practitioner too. I specialise in providing high quality, fun and informative on line yoga practice, courses and coaching. Yoga really turned around my relationship with my ponies (and myself) for the better. I’m absolutely passionate about sharing the benefits with you and your horse.
My ponies are chalk and cheese! Ernie is super responsive. He taught me how each rider’s physical and emotional responses affect how your horse moves, responds and ultimately develops their relationship with you. Our journey and learning together forms the basis of this course.
Gemma was in so much pain when we first met, and so angry. I was terrified of her but I knew that an amazing soul was waiting behind the outbursts. In time, I learned that before you can begin to know a horse, you have to know yourself. I came back to yoga to do that. Gemma and I are now completely aligned, and she is a much happier, gentler girlie.
And when I’m not riding? Yoga of course, alongside walking my dog, caring for my chickens and reading (lots!).
